Algerian Gendarmerie launches “Dauphin plan 2010†to secure summer season
Algerian Gendarmerie will start here on Monday in the implementation of the summer security program “Dolphin Plan†in order to protect holidaymakers through recruiting various security units including more than 40.000 gendarmes.
Â
- Those gendarmes belong to regional units, units of the maintenance of order, units of road safety and special units supported by members of centres and schools belonging to National Gendarmerie, and nine helicopters as well.
- The “Dolphin Plan” 2010 will ensure security of 275 beaches, the equivalent of 77% of the total places authorized for swimming in 14 localities, as the number of beaches noticed a significant rise this year compared to 2009.
- In this framework, a security plan was prepared by the services of Algerian Gendarmerie in order to combat all forms of abuse and to deter various immoral behaviours that effect public tranquillity in places of entertainment and family gatherings, as well as prevention of serious and fatal accidents.
- The security plan will take into account specificities of each region and the nature of the crimes there, based on information and data collected through the previous plans.
- With regard to public scrutiny, the plan will mainly focus on preventive action through being closer to citizens and holidaymakers, and provide aid and assistance in cases of necessity, as well as ensure the protection of public order.
- In view of the holy month Ramadan that coincided with the summer season 2010, it was scheduled to extend the security activity to the end of this month, with the addition of points for control near mosques and overcrowded areas. There will also be mobile patrols involving gendarmerie agents to roam all beaches and control parking areas.
